Scripture in the Morning #31
Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
The Bible tells us, “Do not be afraid!” again and again. We read everywhere in God’s Word that God is in control and promises to bless us no matter what we face. Because Jesus rose again and is with us always through his Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:18-20), we can have freedom from fear because we are never alone. In God’s presence and in His strength we can face whatever comes.
In fact, it is in times of distress and difficulty and trial that God often blesses us most. When do we most vividly learn to depend upon God and His promises rather than self? In trial and when life is difficult. Where do we learn humility, learn to appreciate Grace and forgiveness and where do we most grow in intimacy with God in our walk with Him? When we struggle and He blesses us through it all. Our greatest lessons for we who are works in progress – come through the hard times. So… why fear future difficulties?
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
The peace that passes all understanding is not experiential peace and an easy sailing in life. Rather it is the peace of knowing that whatever we face, God is using for our better good.
Remarkable grace! Our God is awesome. May we each praise Him this day – thanking Him – even for the rough stuff.
